Feel free to ask your son or daughter about the VIP Programme implementation at school. The VIP topics can be a good starting point for conversations you can have around a dinner table.
We’ve noticed that more and more schools initiate early conversations with the students in which the parents are also present. We believe that a good dialogue between school and home is important when it comes to taking care of the mental health of our youth.
As the VIP team, we would like to provide the parents with more support in utilising all of our knowledge and experience. Maybe you think that a mental health-themed meeting for parents and young people at your school could be a good idea? Feel free to contact us or the school — we will be happy to contribute to such a meeting.
Are You Concerned?
If you are concerned about your or someone else's child and you need advice, we recommend that you use the resources available at school, such as a teacher, a school nurse, or a counsellor. Additionally, there are a number of helplines that will be happy to give you advice in such situations. Voksne for Barn (The Association of Adults for Children) has their own helpline line where parents can seek advice. See the link to the available helplines at the bottom of the page. In case of a need for immediate help, you can contact emergency care or a local psychiatric emergency team.

Letter to Guardians
As part of the VIP Programme implementation, the schools can send this letter to parents or guardians who are interested. Many schools use other communication channels to reach the adults at home, but as a parent or guardian, you might still want to read how we ourselves present the VIP Programme.
